October In Colors Club Card

October In Colors Club Card

Today I would like to show you another technique that can done using my product of the week, Sponge Brayers. They are perfect for creating this ombre look. This card is also the next instalment of the In Colors Club collection that went out to my customers last week. Everyone who subscribed to it received a Stampin’ Pad, a Stampin’ Write Marker, 4 sheets of A4 cardstock, 4 each of two designs 6″x6″ DSP, 5 Mini Binder Clips, 3m Grosgrain Ribbon, a FREE Sponge Dauber and a hand made card in the In Color of the month (each month they will collect a different colour). This is the card I made for October. This month for my blog post I’m focusing on Pineapple Punch. Previously I showed you Lovely Lipstick, and Grapefruit Grove.

Ombre is a french word that literally means “shaded” (according to Wikipedia). Most commonly used to describe shading from light to dark.

To create the ombre look on this card:

  1. take a piece of Whisper White cardstock 100mm x 143.5mm.
  2. Using a Sponge Brayer rolled in your chosen colour (mine is Pineapple Punch) and start at one end of the cardstock rolling the brayer side to side working your way up to the top. Repeat this without going all the way to the top. This creates the ombre look. Concentrate more of the colour at the bottom of the piece of cardstock.
  3. To complete this card:
    1. Stamp the dashed circles from the A Good Day stamp set onto the ombre cardstock. (TIP: stamp off to create a different texture).
    2. On a piece of Whisper White card stock stamp the “Just Because” stamp from the A Good Day stamp set in StazOn Ink and then punch out with the Scalloped Circle Punch. (TIP: remember to clean your stamp with the StazOn Cleaner).
    3. Adhere with Liquid Multipurpose Glue the card front to a card base (I’m using Pineapple Punch cardstock).
    4. Adhere a piece of the In Color 2018-2020  6″x6″ Designer Series Paper that is Pineapple Punch and trimmed to 30mm x 143.5mm. I adhered mine to the right hand side.
    5. Cut one Colored Doily in half and adhere with Liquid Multipurpose Glue in the centre white side up. It won’t matter if it leaks as we are covering it up.
    6. Place the “Just Because” sentiment over the centre of the doily and DSP.
    7. Add some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to jazz up the card.
