Artistically Inked Birthday Card

Artistically Inked Birthday Card

Hello everybody!
Welcome to my blog. Today I’m blog hopping with the Global Creative INKspirations team. This month we are are doing a bit of a colour challenge. Each year Stampin’ Up!® releases five new colours which stay with us for two years. These are called InColors. In today’s blog hop we all will be using Fresh Freesia from the 2021-2023 InColor collection, but each of us are pairing Fresh Freesia with two different colours. I love that Stampin’ Up!® provides us with a Colour Coach which has some wonderful suggestions of colour pairing with all 50 available colours. I was assigned to pair Fresh Freesia with Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green. Here’s my card:

Card Details:

  • Card Base: Basic White Thick with bottom edge die cut with clouds from the Basic Border Dies
  • Coloured Strips: Start with a piece of Basic White (15 x 4cm)
  • Sentiment Label: Basic White using Messages Die
  • Start by creating the coloured strips. You can use any colours you’d like and any thickness. I’ve used Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green cut to 1cm and 0.5cm wide. Onto the piece of Basic White add some Adhesive Sheet to the top and peel back. Start layering the the strips. I alternated between the 1cm and 0.5cm and followed the same colour pattern. Once covered trim this piece to 14.8cm wide and at least 3cm high. In Versamark ink stamp the long ink pattern over the stripes to add some visual texture. Adhere it to the card base behind the die cut edge.
  • Add some Adhesive Sheets to the back of some Basic White card stock and die cut out the intricate flower die. I need three to cover my card. Adhere these to the card front and trim off the edges.
  • Stamp the Sentiment in Gorgeous Grape and then die cut out. This way you can line it up as you want in the die area.
  • Add a bow behind the sentiment using Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and add to the card front. TIP: Add double Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the sentiment back.
  • To finish add some 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.

I love the subtle texture the stamping gives on the coloured strips.

To decorate the inside I added a piece of the intricate die to the bottom left corner. Then I embossed the envelope flap with the same die. To emboss place the envelope onto the cutting plate then the die with cutting side up and complete the sandwich with the cutting plate. Run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Next up on our blog up is Danielle from the Netherlands. Click here to check out what two colours she paired with Fresh Freesia.

Thank you Mallory! I’m so thrilled that the blog hop is INKspiring you. I don’t naturally gravitate to purples either and I’ve found the trick is to use a dash. Happy Creating!
