OnStage 2018 Sydney Swaps

OnStage 2018 Sydney Swaps

Wow, what a weekend it has been! I’m still flying high from my lunch with Sara Douglass (click here to read all about that) and then OnStage in Sydney was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! While I wait for the Spoiler Alert to lift (tomorrow) I thought I would share with you my swaps I made for OnStage. I originally wasn’t going to make swaps because I knew that I would be late to OnStage, but then I thought why not make just a few and even if I just give them away its will feel nice.

I actually had quite a lot of fun creating these Fruit salad wreaths. My brand new Stamparatus was a HUGE help. I recently saw a you tube video by Jennifer McGuire who showed how to create a wreath by rotating you paper 8 times and stamping the same image each rotation. It was very cool and I HAD to try it.

I created a template for it first and put that on the stamping area of the Stamparatus. It was held in play by the magnet that come with it. Here is the template for a 4″ square piece of card stock:

To create the fruit wreath I did the Following:

  1. Placed my 4″ square cardstock so that it lined up with one of the two squares of the template.
  2. Arranged the fruit where I would like them (this took a bit of experimenting, but eventually I managed to have the strawberry, pineapple and pear steam on one of the Stamparatus plates, and then the leaves and pear on the second plate).
  3. Stamp the image.
  4. Rotate the square card stock one corner to the left (45 degrees) and stamped again.
  5. Continue to rotate so that it has been rotated around all 8 corners. You can use a pencil to lightly mark the corner you are rotating.

Its the rotating that creates the wreath. So cool and so easy with the new Stamparatus (which I can say will be available in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue from the 1st of June!!!). I then took my square card stock trimmed it down and cut in half. I glued one half to the top of a piece of Real Red card stock and the other half to the bottom. A trick I learnt from Jennifer McGuire. I covered the gap with some Lemon Lime Twist and Real Red card stock to get this oval effect:

I added the punched out watermelon slices using Mini Dimensionals. I really felt like this gave the wreath another dimension and fullness that was missing before.

The other two designs of my swaps I stamped the wreaths in the same manner as described above expect that I used a 10cm x 13.9cm piece of Whisper White card stock. I marked the one corner and make sure I only moved that corner to the next position. Once finished, for some I then trimmed the card stock down so that wreath was no longer centred. Again completed the wreath with some punched out watermelon slices using Mini Dimensionals. I used a black pen to make the seeds black.

I also added a bow made with the Lemon Lime Twist Mini Stripped Ribbon instead of one of the watermelon slices. The bow I made using the fork method and stuck it down with Glue Dots.

It was quite fun to have a ring of bow on my Glue Dots.

For the final variation of my OnStage Swaps I took the same stamped wreath as above but instead of making it off centre, I cut the wreath in half. I then again added a bow and watermelon punch cut outs and glued this to a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock (10.5cm x 14.9cm) which I first stamped in Crumb Cake the fruit outlines from the stamp set. I really loved how these cards turned out!

Hi Pam, The template is two squares on top of each other with one twisted 45 degrees. There is a picture of it in this blog post. You can also see how I use it in my Facebook live blog post: click here. I hope this answers your question. If not please feel free to comment again 🙂
