Hello everybody!
Welcome to my blog. Today I’m sharing with you my April Showcase for the Artisan Design Team. I was super excited to learn that I was assigned the Kangaroo & Company Bundle. This bundle really appealed to me when I first saw the 2021 January – June Mini Catalogue. Living in Australia I felt like it was very culturally appropriate for me. We were also asked to combine it with either the Playing With Patterns DSP or the Sweet Little Valentines Cards & More. I chose the latter because it really appealed to me. There’s a lot of pinks and some blues and felt like my colours. Here are the projects I created:
[All supplies used in this project are shown at the end of this post and are linked to my Stampin’ Up! online store. You can purchase them and create this project too! Thank you for your support of my stamping adventure]
Sweet Little Valentines Card Details (top left):
- Card Base: Sweet Little Valentine Cards & More
- Circle: White Vellum die cut using the largest circle in the Layering Circles
- Mount the big kangaroo, envelope and single heart onto the Stamparatus and stamp the images on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using Saddle Brown Stazon Ink. TIP: I use the Stamparatus because the watercolour paper has texture and this allows be to double stamp with perfect alignment if I need to.
- Water colour the images. For the kangaroo’s body I used Cinnamon Cider and Cajun Craze for the areas of shadow. For the belly I used Blushing Bride. On the envelope I added some Gray Granite. Blushing Bride on the heart. TIP: I love using my ink pads to water colour because it’s like an inbuilt palette and no waste as I leave what’s left over for next time. Simply press onto the top of the ink pad before opening, then open to find some ink on the bottom, don’t slide the ink pad over so that you can use the bottom as a pallet.
- For some sparkle add some Clear Wink of Stella onto the hearts, belly of the Kangaroo & the inside of the ear.
- Die cut out the stamped images. From Basic White die cut out the little rectangle with one curved corner. Onto this piece stamp a sentiment and adhere the envelope to the top edge.
- On the envelope, add a tiny drop of Multipurpose Liquid Glue onto the heart. Using the point of the Take Your Pick tool fill in the heart and let set. Then cover this in Gilded Leafing to make the heart gold.
- Take the pink with gold dots Sweet Little Valentines Card and die cut a stitched rectangle from the front. Then die cut the same rectangle from the striped card front. Place this piece into the one with dots. I added a piece of Basic White (3″ x 4″) to the inside of the card front to keep the die cut in place.
- Trim the Vellum circle to sit on the corner then add the kangaroo on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Avoid adding dimensionals underneath the pouch slit so that you can slide in the envelope with the sentiment inside. TIP: I found using both sizes of dimensionals worked well. Or you could cut the larger ones in half.
- Add the love hearts to the card.
To decorate the inside of this card I added the smallest kangaroo. The Sweet Little Valentine Cards & More have really cute coordinating envelopes.
Pool Party Roos Card Details:
- Card Base: Pool Party
- Card Front: Pool Party (10 x 14.3 cm) and embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
- DSP Panels: Sweet Little Valentines Cards die cut using Stitched Rectangles Dies
- Card Insert: Basic White
- Mount the three Kangaroos and butterfly onto the Stamparatus and stamp the images on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using Saddle Brown Stazon Ink. TIP: I use the Stamparatus because the watercolour paper has texture and this allows be to double stamp with perfect alignment if I need to. I stamped a few butterflies.
- Water colour the images. For the kangaroo’s body I used Cinnamon Cider and Cajun Craze for the areas of shadow. For the belly I used Blushing Bride. On the butterfly wings I used Blushing Bride and Cinnamon Cider for the body.
- For some sparkle add some Clear Wink of Stella onto the butterfly wings, belly of the Kangaroso & the inside of the ears.
- Die cut out the stamped images.
- Adhere the card front to the card base. Add the three strips of DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals. TIP: to get these spaced out and even I used Grid Paper to line them up and then held them together with a bit of wash tape.
- Die cut a circle from White Vellum and trim the edge. Stamp some grass in Pool Party and let dry. Add this to the card and then adhere the Kangaroos on top, with the smallest roo being placed inside the cut of the big roo’s pouch. Add the butterflies to finish.
To finish off this card I added a strip of Pool Party cardstock that was embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I used the same embossing folder on the envelope flap.
Melon Mambo Heart Love Kangaroos Card Details:
- Card Base: Melon Mambo
- Card Front: Melon Mambo (14.3 x 10cm) then die cut from centre a stitched rectangle. Emboss the die cut with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
- Card Insert: Basic White
- Mount the big and medium Kangaroos, heart bunch and single heart stamps onto the Stamparatus and stamp the images on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using Saddle Brown Stazon Ink. TIP: I use the Stamparatus because the watercolour paper has texture and this allows be to double stamp with perfect alignment if I need to. I stamped a few single hearts.
- Water colour the images. For the kangaroo’s body I used Cinnamon Cider and Cajun Craze for the areas of shadow. For the belly I used Blushing Bride. The hearts were coloured in Blushing Bride.
- For some sparkle add some Clear Wink of Stella onto the hearts, belly of the Kangaroso & the inside of the ears.
- Die cut out the stamped images.
- Adhere the card front without the die cut piece onto the card base, then add the embossed die cut into it’s place using Stamping Dimensionals.
- Die cut a circle from White Vellum. Adhere the big Kangaroo onto the circle and then add to the card. Add the heart bunch into the roo’s pouch.
- Add the little roo and hearts.
I finished the inside of the card the same as the previous one but with Melon Mambo.
